About TigerCub

TigerCub helps children aged 4 to 12 with Chinese heritage build Chinese reading habits through stories, audio, quizzes, and gamified progress, all adapted to their level, interests, and learning needs. The app is designed with children and families in mind, in an ad-free environment. TigerCub is currently in closed beta testing. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data during this testing period.

What We Collect

We may collect:

• - Account information such as email address and grade level selection
• - A display name and avatar chosen within the app
• - Reading progress and learning activity
• - Technical information such as device type, operating system, and general usage events to improve app stability and performance
• - User-uploaded material, which remains within each user's account and is not shared with other users or used by TigerCub for any other purpose
• - Feedback voluntarily submitted by parents on the Settings page

How We Use It

We use collected information to:

• - Provide and improve the app experience
• - Track learning progress
• - Maintain account functionality
• - Improve educational content and performance
• - Respond to feedback and requests

Legal Basis for Processing

During the beta testing period, we process personal data based on:

• - Providing access to the TigerCub service and maintaining your account (performance of a service requested by you)
• - Improving the app and resolving issues (legitimate interest)
• - Processing feedback you voluntarily provide (consent)

Children's Privacy

TigerCub is designed for children with parental involvement. We minimize children's personal data collection. We do not require children's real names, birth dates, photos, precise location data, or social profiles. We may use device settings such as time zone or locale information to display dates and timestamps correctly. Children use a display name and avatar chosen within the app. There is no social interaction between children, no messaging, no chat, and no interaction between children and AI. We do not display ads.

Parents or legal guardians are responsible for creating and managing their child's account and ensuring that the information provided is appropriate.

Data Security

We take the protection of your family's data seriously:

• - All data is encrypted during transmission and storage
• - Each user's data is isolated and accessible only to them
• - Authentication uses secure, industry-standard methods
• - When you delete your account, all personal and account-related data is permanently removed
• - We do not store passwords in plain text
• - We are ad-free and do not sell or share data with advertisers

Third-Party Service Providers

We use third-party providers for services such as hosting, authentication, storage, and cloud infrastructure. These providers process data only to provide their services to TigerCub and are selected with consideration for data protection requirements. Our current providers include Supabase (database and authentication, EU region), Microsoft Azure (cloud services, EU region), and Vercel (hosting).

Intellectual Property

All stories, games, visuals, branding, and educational content belong to TigerCub unless otherwise stated. Users are responsible for ensuring they have the right to upload any materials they add to TigerCub. TigerCub does not claim ownership of uploaded materials and does not use uploaded materials for training, marketing, or sharing with other users.

Data Storage

Your data is primarily stored and processed within the European Union. Our hosting provider (Vercel) operates globally and may process requests through servers outside the EU, with appropriate safeguards in place.

• - Account data, reading progress, and uploaded content are retained as long as your account is active. All data is permanently deleted when you delete your account.
• - Access and usage logs are retained while the account is active.
• - Feedback submitted by users is anonymized upon account deletion and may be retained indefinitely in a form that cannot be linked to any individual.

Your Rights

You can view your profile and progress within the app at any time. You can delete your account and all associated data permanently from Settings. For any other requests, contact us at the email below.

Beta Testing Notice

TigerCub is currently in beta testing. Features may change, and we may modify or remove functionality based on user feedback. This privacy policy will be updated before public launch.
